How many tax dollars to secure the border? A lot more than we are spending now. That's the point. We spend trillions of dollars in foreign wars and interventions that make us less secure, but can't spend a fraction of that to defend the borders of this country. Why? Because "our" government is under the control of those who have a complete contempt will of the majority of the people of the US. And overall illegals in this country pay only a fraction of what they get in services. The middle class in this country foot the bill and Corporations get the benefit.

Wages being depressed is a major reasons why 1 in 6 in this country now receive some form of government assistance. Another way the elites force American taxpayers to subsidize a corrupt system.

Environmental Research - Calculating the real carbon footprint of vehicles

Environmental Research Web recently posted “Calculating the real carbon footprint of vehicles“, an article by Mikhail V Chester and Arpad Horvath of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, which looks at the environmental impact of various forms of transportation (Planes, Trains, Buses and Automobiles) over their entire lifetime, to determine overall greenhouse gasses and energy used. The study includes vehicle manufacture, infrastructure, fuel, delivery of fuel and operation of the vehicle.

The energy usage numbers were simplified into MJ/PKT, mega-joules per passenger-kilometer-traveled. When looked at this way, many passengers riding a single vehicle, even if relatively inefficient, actually use less fuel each. 2 people riding an SUV (.9 MJ/PKT) can use less energy, per passenger, than 5 riders in a standard city bus (4 MJ/PKT); however, the numbers change once the bus is full (.5 MJ/PKT). Large Jet aircraft (1.4 MJ/PKT) compare quite favorably, simply because of how many passengers they can carry.

STIMULUS CAN SAVE YOU SERIOUS MONEY

The massive $787 billion economic stimulus recently signed has some pretty rockin’ deals for those looking to make energy efficient upgrades to their home this year. I spent a couple minutes breaking down the issues and will simplify them as best I can, so here goes!

The stimulus has increased the size of incentives to make them more lucrative to homeowners. What used to be tax credits worth 10% of an upgrade cost with a max at $500 has increased three fold to 30% of upgrade cost and $1500 cap. This means if you spend $800 on an efficient water heater, $1000 on insulation, and $2000 for new windows, you can take $1140 off your federal tax bill!

On site renewable energy also receives the same 30% treatment, which is a generous improvement over previous credits. A $24,000 investment in solar panels will reap you a $7200 tax credit now, making it a much more feasible investment for those toying with renewables.

The SIXTIES were an exciting, revolutionary, turbulent time of great social and technological change: assassination, unforgettable fashion, new musical styles, civil rights, women's liberation, a controversial and devisive war in Vietnam, the first man landing on the moon, peace marches, World's Fairs, flower power, great TV & film, and sexual freedom.
Due to the baby boom between 1945 and 1955, over half the population was under 30 years old. To say these young people had a strong desire to change the world, would be an understatement. They began to revolt against society to make their statement to do away with the conservative beliefs of the adult world. Most of their demonstrations were peaceful, they merely wanted to be an example that they could live in their own society, and create their own social system.

The most famous demonstration that was held was Woodstock. It took place in 1969, and lasted for 3 days. It was a living example that a large number of people could stay together for an extended period of time with peace and love in their hearts. I am usually fairly casual about my finances. Barely a glance at my Visa statement. I pay, no questions asked. Until today, when I noticed a monthly charge of $39.99, from a Daily Newspaper. That struck me as a lot of money, all of a sudden. The representative at the end of the line confirmed that I had been paying that amount for twenty months in a row. Eight Hundred dollars, I could have saved.

Before, - that is when the economy was not such a scary word - I would not have bothered. Fleeting pangs of guilt from my budding green conscience, and thoughts of all the trees downed because of my indulgence, did not make a difference. I continued to read, and then quickly dispose of the daily paper that made its way to my door every morning. Promising myself that one day, I would switch to an online subscription.

This morning, I resisted the advances of the Newspaper's representative to cut me a deal. Half price for sixteen weeks. Or maybe just the Sunday paper. Or would I prefer the weekday edition?
